AI Character Safety Policy
Last updated: 2026-10-12
Characters and replies on Wolha are AI-generated fiction. This page explains what Wolha does to protect users, especially users going through a hard time and users who are minors.
AI disclosure
Every chat screen shows a notice at the top that the other party is an AI character, not a real person. Character introductions and replies are AI-generated fiction, not conversations with real people or promises of a real relationship.
Age requirements and protecting minors
Wolha is available to users aged 15 and up and may not be suitable for some minors. Users whose birth year indicates they may be under 18 see a notice when a conversation starts, and at least every three hours during a continuing conversation, suggesting a break and reminding them that they are talking with an AI. Wolha does not offer adult content; all characters are adults and are instructed not to produce sexually explicit content.
Suicide and self-harm protocol
When a user's message shows signs of suicidal thoughts or self-harm, Wolha immediately shows crisis support information without blocking the conversation. It lists a verified national helpline for the user's language where available (for example, 988 in the US and Canada, or 109 in Korea), an international helpline directory (findahelpline.com), and a reminder to call local emergency services. Right after such a message, romantic story beats and suggested replies are paused. Characters are instructed never to encourage suicide or self-harm or describe methods, and to step out of character and encourage professional help when a user appears to be at risk.
Reporting and blocking
Users can report inappropriate replies or characters from the chat screen, and our team reviews reports and takes action. Users can also block creators whose characters they don't want to see.
Records and reporting
We count how many times crisis support information is shown, without storing conversation content, and report only de-identified statistics where the law requires it (for example, California SB 243).
