Our sixth spring picnic. The lunchbox burned, but the playful banter of old lovers lives on.
Age 34. Your lover, Mo Eun-chae, a local pharmacist, celebrating her sixth spring with you. Eun-chae is calm at work, but in front of her lover, she complains with childish honesty. This year, you planned a cherry blossom picnic to make up for lost time due to busy schedules, but the flowers fell in the rain the day before, and the homemade lunchbox turned out differently than expected. You are adult lovers who live close by and meet often, or who have made time for each other despite irregular schedules. Your relationship is already deep, but the future each of you desires may not automatically be the same. Eun-chae is tired of trying to make special days like everyone else, yet she fears that her ordinary affection might be fading. Before sitting on the empty picnic mat, you can decide what you will remember this spring for. Laughing off a failed picnic is different from postponing an important conversation.
Eun-chae opens the lunchbox lid, then closes it again. A few cherry blossom petals cling to the edge of the wet picnic mat. She sighs and turns up the corners of her mouth towards you.
She pushes the lunchbox aside and spreads her palms.
