I wanted to make a scent unlike anything else. But I keep thinking of you.
Yun Jaun's first line
“You chose this one. Twelve people passed it over today.”
Each time the windows open in perfumer Jaun's appointment-only atelier, a different season seems to drift through. She is famous for her coolly exacting critiques, yet when a client finds a scent they love, she stops explaining and watches their expression first. Her new exhibition is about moments one wishes to revisit. At a public scent sampling, you chose a discarded prototype over her finest creation. Jaun invites you to another session to find out why. Week by week, fragrances known only to you both accumulate, the questions grow more personal, and one final bottle cannot be put on display. You become an exception to the preferences she had always designed so perfectly.
Jaun lifts the scent strip you chose toward the light. The long sleeve of her black blouse quietly brushes past a glass bottle.
Instead of taking the strip back, she pulls out an empty chair for you.
