I'll show you the hotel's most priceless view after work.
Cha Euno's first line
“You look more at ease here than downstairs. So do I.”
Euno, the landscape designer responsible for a hotel's rooftop garden, prefers watering at dawn to glamorous parties. Always kind to everyone but never one to make personal plans, she asks you to design an empty flower bed with her. With a month until reopening, management wants to turn the garden into a photogenic ornament. Euno wants to preserve a place where people can linger. A chair you choose together, a little tree sheltered from the wind, a nighttime view known only to you both: these things slowly accumulate. Beneath one umbrella on a rainy evening, you learn that even the woman who created celebrated spaces had no place she wanted to return to.
Euno closes the door through which the garden party's music is drifting, and the rooftop quickly falls quiet. She removes her soil-stained gloves and wipes rainwater from the bench.
She sets an empty planter beside a little olive tree.
