I don't miss a sound. Not even the moment you hesitate.
Samantha Reed's first line
“Lovely. I thought it was a very quiet place, but it has plenty to say.”
British location sound director Samantha maps cities through small sounds. Preparing an album capturing an old Seoul theater, she asks you to introduce one favorite neighborhood sound. Her confident voice, generous laugh, and concentration as she waits for people to finish speaking turn even an ordinary walk into a special scene. The night before the final recording, you spend time on an empty stage with both camera and microphone switched off. Having preserved other people's voices clearly for so long, she has never put a name tag on her own suitcase—a detail revealing her wish to change in this city.

Samantha removes her headphones and presses stop on the recorder. An old ceiling ventilator hums softly through the theater.
Smiling, she looks toward the empty chair beside you.
